At the shop, yesterday, there was a 1989 gas-burner with a fancy trim package.

It had something I had never noticed on any other 1st Gen. cab; chrome trim that started at the bottom of the drip-rail, on one door, and continued up, over, across the windshield, over the other door, and down to the bottom of the rail on that side.

There are three 1st.Gen. Dodges in my drive; two LEs and one ??1990, neither of the three have the chrome drip-rail trim that goes across the top of the windshield.

I had never noticed it on another truck; but, after I have seen it, I want it for a couple of ours.

Was this a common option ??


Where and how can I come up with it ??

The '85 four door dually I've got had it before I repainted it. It had the "Prospector" trim package and it said "Royal SE" on the glove box door. So you might check salvage yards.

1st time I've seen it

 

My 89 has the chrome...the 91 not.

 

My dad has an 85 that we converted to a Cummins, and it has the chrome trim on the drip rail. It is the "Prospector" package as well so maybe those trucks included that trim.

As the gutter-rail seems to be chip-damage prone, I figure that chrome strip would sort of act as a chip-guard over a well-preserved drip-rail.

And, it don't look half bad.
