Talking raced a 24 valve, beat him

i raced my buddy the other day, and i beat him. he has a 2000 sport with a 5 speed, edge e-z, and a 5" straight pipe. it was close, but i was able to slowly pull away from him. just wanted to let you know that with a few minor tweaks, these things are awesome. i dont feel so bad now that hes got about 25k into his truck, and i have about 3 into mine, it was given to me, and i can beat him.

thanks guys, i was rather proud of my self
he is using the excuse that he was in third gear, but he had a rolling start on me, and i know i can take off in third gear quite quickly if i want to, let alone a rolling start.

i was at a dead stop at a light, and he was approaching it, right as he was almost even with me, it turned green,it wasnt quite 1/4 mile, but i still would have had him. i think the fact that he doesnt know how to shift quickly helped me

Great job on beating that 2nd gen, I guess you can teach our old dogs new tricks. I'm lost here how do shift a getrag quickly? A getrag is lots of things but its not a speedy shifter, or at least mine isn't.

A friend of mine (who owns a 99 CTD) rode with me to BD's dyno day last weekend. as we were heading north at about 70mph, I wanted to get around a few cars before the freeway choked down to two lanes. When I laid on the throttle, All he said was,"my truck won't do that".
I told him it was because his truck was ugly.

you know, i was considering doing an NV4500 swap into my truck if my tranny ever went out, but i drove the same persons truck, and i just didnt like the way it felt. it seems like my 2nd and 3rd are closer together. in the second gens i am used to the nv5600, my dad has a 99 with one, and he just ordered an 04.5. if it cost any extra money than to get the getrag replaced, the nv4500 wouldnt be the choice i would make. i dont know how i shifted it faster than he, ill never figure it out. with what he had the odds should have been in his favor, but i guess it is how you drive it that matters.

Speed shiftin a Getrag is a fine fine art, and those who can do it equally fast and smooth should be commended.....I can do one or the other, still workin on gettin both of em under control at the same time. And BTW, when my 89 had just minor pump bumps with 3.54 rearend and 33" tires, she beat a brand new 03 psd with throttle to spare! Thats when he spent the big money to catch up...oh well, im poor so its gonna take me a while to get an intercooler and a couple other parts.
