Raced and beat Chevy 1500

but not by much, and only after my auto hit third gear did I start to pull away from him...the crappiest thing is that he is a 6 cylinder? That's not right, is it? I mean, I know that he is much lighter and all...but shouldn't the margin have been bigger?

A gasoline has a pretty good chance up against a stock diesel... Theres just something about them. But...But...But with a little tinkering, we will win every time!!!

Sounds about right to me. Actually them little 4.3 V6s that are in the chevys are fairly peppy for their size. Now go hook 20,000#s behind each one and see who wins

Oh, I already know that he can't outpull me...His truck is stock (one of the guys on my ship that I am friends with). And yes, I am running stock fueling...I just figured it wouldn't have been that close. I beat my neighbor's 01' Powerstroke by more than that little 6 banger Chevy! hehe...guess that they ARE pretty peppy. Oh well, I beat him either way. Let's see, that puts a Chevy 1500, Ford Powerstroke, Acura RSX and a Toyota Matrix MR under my belt...nothing really worth bragging about, but with a 7000+lb truck that is pretty much stock, makes me happy!

Gasoline engines

i dont care which ones, they are usually pretty mean in the first two gears, but thats when our sleeping giants start to awaken, by the time a gasser hits third gear its startin to slow down and were startin to get goin, chargers lit, smoke clearin and a train a comin ur way.. then the looks on their faces, what in the world was that?

Gosh i love diesels..

Anyways, dont tread on a silverado 1500, even in the six cylinders they are pretty quick, ive beaten z71s and four door ones and a couple of regular cabs, and believe me they are stout lil runners...

At the very least, hey you got him...

Now that I think about it...I think that there are a couple determining factors that I never even thought about until this morning. 1.) My truck wasn't warmed up, and I don't know about any of ya'll, but mine is a DOG when she's not up to operating temps. 2.) I didn't do a boosted launch either. Gassers have an almost IMMEDIATE throttle response and if these trucks didn't have the turbo on it, probably wouldn't outrun a stock base model Civic...I think I could have beaten him by a little more, but it was still a blood pumpin race! LOL

Since he had a V-6 I'm guessing it was 2 wheel drive? Less weight. I had a 2002 GMC Sonoma 4x4 with the 4.3l in it and I went nose to nose with a city cop (I knew the person). Either way, with a boosted launch you would've smoked him.
