quick oil filter ?

Hello, the miles snuck up on me and I didnt have time to order a fleetguard oil filter. So I went to the dodge dealer and picked one up. My ? is he told me the filters are the same for 12 valve as they are for the 24 valve motors. I just want to make sure before I put it on. The part # he gave me is 5083285aa. Is this right for a 93 diesel? Thanks in advance

Look in the sticky at the top of the page. Under the basic specs there is a chart of filter #s

I could be mixed up; but, I believe the filter number for the later model trucks fits the older trucks, but is a superior filter with some better kind of filtering media.

Yes, you can use a filter for any Dodge Cummins on a 1st gen. The ones for 3rd gens are even fluted for a wrench.

Doesn't matter, just change it often. I'd never pay Dodge dealer price. Any big truck shop/dealer, or Cummins distributor can get you a Fleetguard filter. Mopar filters are made by Fleetguard btw. Baldwins are sometimes easier to come by locally. www.baldwinfilters.com find a distributor nearby.

K&N filters are not approved by Cummins.

If I bought a truck with a K&N oil filter on it, I'd replace immediately.

I use Donaldson usually.

Cellulose = paper = normal oil filter material.

Stratopore is a synthetic filter media that gets out finer particles while keeping an acceptable flow rate.
