Quick ? I think!

Can someone tell me how to or an easy way to adjust the mileage on an odometer? I just got my new to me odometer and want to install it with the correct mileage. I've tried gently to turn the gears and they don't want to move. I saw the little place on the side that appears to have something to do with this. I read the sticky and still not sure what to do Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Just make a note of the difference between the new odometer and the old odometer.

I did that and just put it in. I was just wanting it to be right if possible! Now I am wondering if anyone might know why it wont work at all? LOL The guy I purchased it from said he tested it, but I have my doubts. I recon Im gonna take them both apart and see if maybe make one of two. We'll see.

Probably the same gears are broken in both of them.

I have re-adjusted odometers before and it is very much like setting the date/time stamp on the old manual time-clocks.

There are tiny pawls that notch over tiny cogs.

You have to hold the pawls on both sides of the cogs and rotate the cog for each number.

If you don't have patience, it's best not to mess with it.

Thanks 4 the input! R U serious about the drill POWERRAMMASTER? I would prob. try it if the unit worked! LOL It seems that its probably best to just buy the gears and fix the original odometer unit. Oh, well guess thats what I get for trying to take the easy way out. Gotta spend more $ in the long run! Yall have a good evening. I gonna play around with this spare unit. These odometers seems to be a problem 4 most people. Need to figure an easier way around this
