Steering/frontend questions
Steering/frontend questions
Hi,
I just got my rearend rebuilt because it was making a grindy noise around corners that sounded like it was coming from the front. Although it was in rough shape and needed it, (new carrier, housing machined, pinion on the go) I still seem to have my grindy sort of noise coming from the front. Its not loud, just enough that you can hear it in neutral, and feel it sometimes.
It happens when I turn hard left, or put lots of stress on the wheel like higher speed left hand cornering. I pulled apart the whole front end before I sent my rear in, and gave all the wheel bearings, spindle bearings and rotors a freshening. Nothing looked out of the ordinary. Also changed the stub shaft u-joint on the passenger side (the noisy one) and now need a new inner axle seal too
.
I should also mention that it feels swayish when I wave the wheel back and forth. Almost like the u-bolts are loose in the back, but they are tight. The tires are not rubbing on the mudflaps. I cant spot any play in the kingpins, and have 1 new tie rod end and the other is in good shape. The drag link is fine. Oh, and all my tire pressures are equal.
Anybody have any suggestions? Im getting ready to freak out... Sick of throwing money at this thing, and pulling it apart every weekend.
Thank you.

They both rotate freely... I originally thought that may have been the problem. I took it out for a beating today, but it only seems to want to do it sometimes. I dont get it...
