Pushing the limits of the Getrag.

Today we tore the puller down for the winter. Looks like the Getrag was almost ready to give up.

Good thing we have a NV4500, rebuilt, waiting for duty. Won't feel so bad about replacing it now.

Looks empty in there:

Is that stock or an aftermarket replacement?

I have twisted a couple of aftermarket inputs. The stocker is strongest.

It could have been twisted like that since the 1st pull.

It is the stock shaft. I would only use another factory one for pulling, I agree the German ones have to be stronger. The input looked fine this spring when we put it back in. If I could get a 1-3/8" input for it, I would stick with Getrag. I really think they are pretty stout inside. We only use 4th gear for pulling anyways.

I was all bummed out because our last pull got rained out. It probably wouldn't have lived through 1 more.

That would have been kinda funny if it would have given up on the dyno. After all the abuse it lived through on the track.

I know the pics are not the best, (having camera issues) but it is cracked almost all the way around is 2 places.

This explains our clutch release problems. I figured the clutch was smoked, but it actually looks pretty good. It must have been binding up on the splines.

It looks ready to twist right off on the next gear shift.
