I'v got a small (very eariting) leak at the top of fuel heater. Ichanged fuel filter, of course the whole nipple came off and let the heater down ( hey i didn't know it's my first time ) Panick!!! Go to sticky, read filter,heater replacement,GREAT WRITE UPS, (stop panic k).Use "O" ring from oil filter!!! ,it is 4x as thick as stock "o" ring, is this the norm?, will it work yes or no??? Waiting on you guy's be for i install ,or not.

 

i went to the cummings dealership and paid the $2 and got the correct oring. its a pretty easy fix. there is also a pre heater delete stud you can buy the part number is in one of the posts. good luck

 

Thicker won't matter much as long as the diameter is correct. Just make sure it's in the right spot and the stud gets tight.

 

I paid about 4.75 for mine from cummins but it fixed it

 

$1.50 from Cummins, $4 to have it shipped to him!

 

I used the oil filter gasket. Notice how the stud has notches in it? Find something that you can use like a screwdriver to tighten the stud in. A big screwdriver would probably do it. I used a pair of vice grips holding a flat washer.

 

Hey gang ,well i followed the stiky info., used the oil filter "o" ring , couldn't find my other spare key to tighten stud with,like scott, i used the right size washer and snuged it up, put on full filter, bleed air hit key ---purrrrrrs ,no leak's ----so far. As always thank's to the stiky& all of the good advice from u all. whosdunit.

 

I noticed more power and lower fuel use when I did mine.

 

This trk., has always pulled real good up to about 60mph, then,,,it sort of just hangs there, give it more peddle it is slow to speed up, truth be known i don't know if it will run over 80-.
