Book probly says about every 48k miles. For some reason I seem to change it about once a year < 10k miles. That gets expensive.

Anyone ever figure out or decide if the top cover leaking is from the vent or the shifter hole? 5 qts in mine seems to leak pretty bad. I've added only one quart overfill this time - 4.5qts after the clutch job and I'm gonna run a vent hose and axle breather vent up to the engine compartment. But I'm wondering which one if leaks from the most....

Five quarts in mine and it is dry and clean on the outside, no drips, no runs.

I use to take the shifter out until I realized I didn't need to.
just fill it throw the stock fill plug, when its full, put the plug back in and pull the top bolt out of the plate and add 1-1 1/2Q an you dun

theres two screws that holed the shifter into position, and that can come loose and leak oil(uner the shift boot that covers the tower) and will make it look like it coming out of the vent tube. Make shore you get that boot back on tight(the one with the hose clamp!) I used "mild" lock tight(some day you may wont to thake them out!!)

It's been about 6 weeks or so since I had mine overfilled and I guess I'm lucky in that I haven't seen a drop on the driveway....or anywhere else for that matter. I'll probably run this a few more miles then repeat the process only then I'll have some synthetic pumped in this time around. Honestly, I haven't noticed any difference in the way it shifts, sounds or anything else. It still feels the same...

Actually the book says "The oil in this transmission does not require periodic changing." No wonder the Getrag has such a bad rep.
