Fixing Up An 89 D-250 - Questions
Hi all,
I've been reading along for a while, but this is my first post. I just have a few questions about my new project - an 89 D-250 with about 298k on the clock.

I'm going to strip the rusted out sheet metal, which is pretty much everything at this point, and do some work on the engine and suspension while it's all apart.
I'd like to lift the front end a bit as it's sagging considerably, and maybe even lift the whole truck. I'm wondering what you guys think are the best options for a 2wd - I saw a 92 D-250 on here - I think it was ouchman's truck - that had a real nice leveling job done on it. What kind of prices should I expect to pay for parts to get something similar done? Labor costs don't come into play, I'll probably be doing most of the work on my own.
Also, I'm thinking about doing a torque converter while the cabs off and the tranny is more accessible. The truck seems to make pretty poor power to the wheels, but that could be the original 727 with nearly 300k playing with me. I've been looking at Hughes converters for the most part, I'm not really able to spend a ton right now. How well will an original 727 handle the additional power?
I think this about does it for now, but I'm sure I'll have more questions along the way. I'll try to keep my gallery updated as I tear the truck down, I should be starting later this week when the registration finishes transferring to my temporary replacement.
Thanks for the great info on this site, it's been real good to me so far, and has helped me get back on the road more than once when things have broken down.

give dave a call for a TC or even a rebuild 727, he wont kill your wallet and has a quality product. as far a power check that your getting full pull on the throttle cable thats a common place to loose power. the 727 is a real good tranny if you keep up on the basics, like fresh oil and adjustments it will take a lot of abuse.
Good luck you have your hands full
