New numbers on the Spray.

I said I would post when I got new numbers with the N2O. I think I have powers working against me

For those of you who don't know, at the last Nor-cal dyno event I got the truck on the dyno did my first pull #2 only flipped the switch did another pull NO CHANGE! Dyno operator looked over and said "Did you turn on the bottle?" So I check and it's on but there is nothing in it! To much testing Rather than hold up the line I just finished my last pull on #2 only. So three runs 340 & 614.87 peak HP at about 3100RPM

So I get there a little early so I can get the bottle filled. Out of five stand up tanks we could only get 4LB's of nitrous Not thier fault shippment got screwed up. I take what I can get and get set up on the dyno.

I had brought the pump over to the head and it felt soooo much more responsive, but when I tow I could feel the loss in torque. First run 300 & 568 So I back off the timing to where it was on the 340 run (I marked it) do another pull and 318 & 608.21 that was the best I could do no matter where I put the timing. Just for grins I pulled the wire (the crazy blue one Stomp LOL) and 321 & 609.93 but the guy stopped @ 2900 RPM on all of these runs( different operater than the other Day). On the 340 run my graph starts to drop a little @ 2900RPM but then comes back up to where it peaked @ 3200RPM

Now for the N2O runs. For the first run I had a .055 jet and I did 356 & 650 Not a whole lot of gain so I went to a .065 jet and did another pull 368 & 678 So out came the box of jets again .073 jet and another pull 388.29 & 700.85 we did one more pull and the the numbers started to drop. Out of the little blue bottle again

I had a friend video all the runs. Smoke was terrible, 32 pounds of boost (I normally see 42 on #2 and 45 with the spray) EGT's 900deg, I can burry it on the street. The N2O clears up the smoke on the street really well , but on the dyno it still smoked really bad. It was less than the fuel runs but still real heavy. The nitrous runs made the torque come on REALLY QUICK! For example @ 2000 RPM on the 340HP run my torque was about 350ftlbs but on the nitrous run it was 625ftlbs in fact he started the run @ 1800 RPM and it is over 600ftlbs for the entire run.

I am still trying to figure all this out by look at all the graphs. I am still about where the numbers ended up.
There you have it N2O #s and MY BOOK. LOL

Thanks
Brenden

hmmm I would have thought there would have been a bigger difference and higher numbers all around. Do you thinbk it had to do with the operater shutting it down after 2900?

Not bad numbers at all, picked up about 60hp and 100tq.

Cool! Hope you can get it filled all the way up for the next one and see what it'll make after more tuning. I'm sure you can get more than 60 extra HP out of it.

Thanks guys, To tell you the truth I was kinda dissapointed on the numbers. I think that part of it was not pulling it the extra 200-300 RPM. The other problem is the rollers on the Dyno are only 5400 pounds which means that it is lighter than the truck so it can't load down the engine enough.

I was watching the video agian today and when he starts the pull my boost gauge jumps to 32LBS but before the run is over it drops down to 20LBS while he is still on it.

I hope to get some more tuning in soon and i hope to get the Nitrous to give me a 125HP+ boost If I can ever get a full bottle It's just to much fun tuning it on the street

Thanks
Brenden

Well it looks like a step in the right direction. Now you just need to take bigger steps.

Did he start all the runs at 1800rpm??? One good thing about a VE pump is it will fuel hard down low you shouldnt have that hard of a time building boost. A p-pump motor will have a harder time trying to build boost on a dyno with the light rollers.

At the dyno day they started my run at 12-1300rpm's. If you start the run at 1800rpm's it is going to rev to quick to build boost. Maybe if you had a stock turbo with a 12cm housing on it. You need to find a place where you can run your own pickup. If Imler's have a Spring dyno day you need to go over there and run on the rollers.

Heck if you ever make it up to Eureka there is a nice Superflow dyno in town. I am sure he can load your pickup . They will also let you drive your own. That is where I am going to do my tuning.
