Need some turbo thoughts and advice....

I've been thinking of picking up a rebuilt HX35 here locally, but the only thing that is holding me back is the fact it is not equipped with a waste gate. I'm pretty picky about these kinds of things.

I would not be using this turbo until I had a IC set-up installed, so wondering what boost numbers you HX35 users are seeing...especially those with no waste gate. I'm thinking, from what I've read and come across, I'd likely see mid to high 20's? But then it would also depend on what's been tweaked on my pump I suppose as well?

According to your sig, the pump is stock other than a timing bump, right?

Well, I only have 2 turns on my fuel screw with slightly larger injectors (4x.014s) and, granted I have a Super 40 compressor with a 60mm wheel, I've seen a max of 37psi with the wastegate plugged/disabled. A stock hx-35 is a 56mm or 58mm (?) wheel. That being said, I think you'd be well under 40psi with your mods and no wastegate.

Thanks for the info guys!!

Well I'm not comfortable pulling 30+ Lbs boost with no waste gate. Guess I'll wait for something with a waste gate.

Being that your pump is stock, just run the stock turbo for now while you save up some coin for a good turbo that will give you some room to grow in the future should you decide you want more get-up out of it.

what size exhaust housing does the HX35 have ? I use to run 40+ with my H1C and 18cm exhaust housing all the time with no problems.

Your 18.5 h1c housing will fit right on if you wanted to go that route. And if the 35 is non gated I'd bet its got a larger turbine housing on it than a 12cm.
