getrag 90* speedo part???? ASAP........

I got all new parts for the speedo sender including the yellow gear, housing that goes into the trany, speed sensor. I could not find a new 90* piece that comes off and connects to the speed sensor. My question is do I need the 90* piece? Is it a gear reduction of some sort or 1/1? I'd rather mount the speed sensor to the trany.

thanks.................

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Believe the adapter was to correct error due to tires or axle ratios that could not be corrected with gear in ext hsg. Generally was not 1/1 so some error may manifest itself. Use GPS to find amount of error.

Elbow reduces the speed about 1/3. I got one through an online Dodge dealer about a year ago for about $60.

Well according to the Navigation the speedo is WAY off. At 40mph the speedo shows 65. At 62mph the speedo shows 100mph. It would sure make some awesome videos though with the speedo climbing that fast in a first gen. lol I guess I will keep looking for a new 90*, in the mean time the odometer will just be catching up from when it didnt work. hahaha

I didnt catch that but you may be right. lol Is the getrag a german trany or something because it works out nearly perfect in kilometers per hour. So i can just look at my speedo and divide by 1.6 to know my true speed in mph.

I don't know about the electric-drives; but, on the cable-driven speedometers, the L-shaped adapter also REVERSES the spin on the shaft.

This about drove me nuts, when I hooked up the one on my Ford, until I noticed the odometer was running BACKWARDS.

I installed the adapter and it works perfect.

i'd be ok with the odometer counting down to -0-. that would be my countdown timer to full rebuild and much more power. lol

The electric speedos don't care which way the VSS spins - they always count up.
