Muffler? What muffler?!!!!
Just uncorked my rig!! The sound you ask? HOW SWEET IT IS!! I love hearing the turbo whistle bouncing off the houses on my street! I made a homemade muffler delete, Went down to Kragens and picked up 2 - 3"x18" pipe sections with a female on one end of each, and an 18" section of 3" flex pipe, and 4 clamps. Went home and broke out the tools (anglegrinder w/cutoff wheel, sockets and the MIG) and went to town. Had it back together in about 2 hrs. Only had the truck a week and my grin is only getting bigger! The only thing better than having a 1st gen CTD in the driveway is talking about it on DTR!I geuss I need to break out the digital and post some pics.
P.S. nobody else in my family understands. Dad said, "why would you cut off a perfectly good muffler" wife and uncle said about the same thing, "won't that make it loud" they say with a look of discust. Any body else have trouble explaing why a cloud of smoke and noise is so awseome? They don't even care about the performance gains!

Um, I catch a lot of flak for even buying the Dodge. I get the usual "How is the tranny? Dodges have awful trannies." "HOws the old Dodge rust?" etc. They just do not understand.

Don't worry about what they say! Just as long as your happy and your truck makes you happy, Its all good!! It would have been hard to talk my dad into cutting the muffler off of his 95' but it already had a 4" straight pipe when he bought it! He gives me crap for working on stuff on my truck that work perfectly already, but you should see the look on his face when he gets to drive it! Permagrin!!!

I drove my truck home for the first time last night and my wife went with... not happy with me at all! From how the truck looked, sounded, and smelled she was all worked up. And it didant help I was racing my buddies 2nd gen and a pile of other diesel trucks!

When I cut the pipe behind the muffler, just before going over the axle, there was so much soot trapped it caught on fire, and now I get alot more smoke out the back, Im assumeing the muffler caught alot of the soot before. Is it better to exit before the axle to reduce buildup?
