03 muffler vs 05 muffler w/cat backpressure

Anybody know if the stock 05 muffler is the same unit as the stock 03. I was just thinking about noise and air flow things and inquiring minds need to know.
Thanks

Good one since I have a 03 and know my down pipe is 3.5" leading into the muff. It only increases to 4" after the muffler. Anybody.....?

I heard the insides of an 03 are reduced to 3". Don't know if it's true though. The guy who told me wanted me to buy an exhaust system from him.

The "muffler" or resonators should be the same or at least they have the minimum restriction in the system.

Yes, a great upgrade would be to get the 4" cast iron turbo elbow from an 04.5-06 engine, but you'll need a new downpipe too.

which will contain a kitty. So get the 4" elbow and a downpipe from aftermarket.

Actually, I was thinking of making an 03 out of my 05, without getting into the obvious federal issues. I was concerned about the sound level. My 03 seemed ok without the cat.
