Line-x all over???
Line-x all over???
My truck has been blessed with the ever peeling white paint. I am not leaning toward paint, I want somthing durable and low upkeep. Thinking about going with line-x all over the whole body. Has any body done this? any pics? Will mud stick to it? is it extra heavy? What are the color/finish options? How long will it last un-maintianed (if there is any maintinance?) ??
I have my rockers done, but I also would like to do my whole truck. I think it would be purdy heavy. As far as my rocker panels go, the Line-X has been on for a year and is still holding up great!
Ive seen a small car at a hunting/gun show a few years back that was completely sprayed. I had the idea of spraying my FJ60 all in Line-X but the guy at the booth said it turns the vehicle into a real hot box. That drove me away from the idea. It gets to be 120*+ inside vehicles down here in the summer time, I cant imagine what it would be like if the Line-X made it worse...
CD's on the dashboard have been known to lose their shape from the intense summer heat, with Line-X...would the seats burst into flames?
Thats just what he said. Who knows, it might provide insulation from the heat but I doubt it.
Also keep in mind, if ever in the future you wanna actually PAINT your truck again...its gonna be impossible. A friend who used to do body work said the only remedy he found for removing spray-on bed liners is a torch and a paint scraper. Unless there is a chemical stripper out there but even then, it sounds like an expensive process.
Hot Dawg, thats a nice truck you got there by the way.

Two thoughts.
1. The finish would not weigh more on the truck than it did in the can.
2. The inside of my lined bed has marks in it from dragging branches out of it to throw on the burn pile. I have not tried to remove them other than simple washing, but simple washing does not remove them. Put that together with rubbing brush in the hills and you quickly have a tough looking, but ugly, truck. Marks that don't wash off, can't be rubbed out, and can't be painted over don't sound too cool all over the sides of the rig.

When I had my 06 Line-X the kid working there had done his Ford Ranger, he said the hard part was washing it. It ate sponges and rags, he had to use a brush. Looked kind of neat though.
