I rewired the front and side markers to differ in functionality from how the system was originally designed. I now have the side markers functioning solely as running lights and not alternately flashing with (ground through) the front markers along with being a running light.

I installed these White/Amber switchback LEDs in the front markers. I went with the 6K to closer match the Truck-Lite LEDs. I also installed the optional resistor they offer just in case it gave the system fits. I do have an electronic flasher from them for both the turn signal and hazard circuits. Works as a timer as opposed to an old fashion thermal switch.

I might have to try one and see what it looks like at night before I commit to swapping some in.

If I can get it to work here is a video of the front lights in operation.

Doesn't work for me on firefox. I even disabled ghostery. Waited 5 minutes and video was still not loaded and I have blazing fast web service. Oh well. I'll wait for a pic.

Still can't get it to work. Try this link. Post number 473 half way down the page3. That link still seems to be working.

Here's a video demonstration of mine. Starts with parking lights, I activate the hazards and then go back to parking lights. Then I turn the high beams on to show everything lit up.

JimL has a write up in the sticky's for the side marker lights. Its kind of the long way around the side marker issue. What I did was just use the marker light circuit wire to pin 30 on a 5 pin relay. Then ran a new wire from pin 87A to the marker light. The turn signal wire to the marker I sent to pin 86. Pin 85 was grounded. The second wire at the marker light was grounded. This gives proper operation to the side marker. But it only works in turn signal mode when the lights are turned on. Because your using the original marker circuit for power to the side light.

I read that thread countless times before attempting the same. My truck didn't have the 4-way connectors that his does from the factory. Even though my year model specific FSM shows it in the wiring schematics. I took it upon myself to add them using WeatherPack connectors. Another way to restore factory functionality with LEDs would have been to use a rectifier bridge. Among many discussions about this issue, I just decided it wasn't worth the hassle and extra wiring to make it function as designed, in my opinion. When driving I've always made sure that there's nobody 2 lanes over to my right or left when making lane changes because people never seem to pay attention to turn signals.
