K/N vs. BHAF

I am running a k/n conical filter 45d' right off the turbo. And I was wondering if a bhaf is going to give me more flow than the k/n?It seems to flow real well but I was wondering if there would be any advantage to going to a bhaf? And is the stock corragated intake tube restrictive?

I've wondered about using one of those right off the Turbo but I wonder about defeating the purpose by sucking in warm air that just came from the radiator. IMHO cooler air is better. I wouldn't think the wavy inside of the flex tube from the air filter would cause much problem as long as it's big enough. If it had sharp edges inside that would cause turbluence however.

What about running a bowl shaped air filter housing up to the hood and putting on a scoop of sorts?

My set up has a rubber clamp with a 4in. pvc elbow with the filter off of that. And i'm sure its not drawing cool air.I would like to figure a way to draw cool air.Because I dont know how good alot of airflow is if its hot.

Very similiar to the K&N.

Rumor has it that there were a couple guys that started K&N (Mr K and Mr N?)

One of them grew unhappy with the other and left to start his own company, AFE.

Heard that somewhere on the internet, so it must be true.

Or, was that UNI?

I found that getting rid of that Stock ribbed air inlet and changing over to a smooth air inlet boosted my numbers just a very tad bit. Maybe 1 lbs if that. But the sound changed just a little hearing the turbo now. I think the ribs did disrupt the airflow going into the turbo.

Cooler air is always better. I notice this because of the cooler air now being winter time. Stick that air filter into the fenderwell and get cooler air. Better yet, cut a hole in your hood and run a snorkel...

I have a KN sitting in the basement still in the factory housing. I run a BHAF, love it!!! it made a difference in mine.

Also drill holes above your bumper to let air ram through to your filter. Also, rip that stupid air snorkle that restricts air coming in to the firwall.

That and a few exhaust, fuel, and air mods, I can reach 28psi of boost.

I ran the K&N RE0880 for almost 2 years with no problems what so ever. No oil on the turbo blades etc. About 5 months ago I switched to the BHAF just to try it out and to tell you the truth I was dissapointed. It is alot quieter (the louder the better for me) less seat of the pants and a tad higher EGTs.
