Just a few questions- need advice

I have a few questions that have been running around in my head and I figure ya'll migh have some good answers . First , A/C, my ac works but it has a leak some where around the firewall, it does not seem to be at the compressor. Will the stop leak stuff I have seen fix it? Are those retrofit r134 kits any good ? I put Freeze 12 in it and it worked good for awhile . Second , electrical , what does the factory hookup for the tach look like, what color wires or whatever going to it . My truck is a 92 and from what I have read on here it should be there but I see several plugs and can not figure which. Third , white smoke at exhaust, I see it when the truck is running, just a little white ting is visible . Fourth, my truck turns really well to the left but will not turn sharp at all to the right . Is this typical of these trucks or is my front end out of whack. the truck drives great except for the turning radius to the right. Thanks for your time and knowledge.

The turning part might be normal if yours does it too. Mines sharp to the left but make sure you have plenty of room when you're swinging to the right. The ac could be a connection. Easier and better to fix that than to run the stop leak in it. Convert it over to R134, put new fitting over the old ones and install a new receiver/drier.

The only one I can answer is the turning radius is different because the pitman are gets in the way of the tire.

A crossover steering setup will fix the turning radius thing if it is something you want to correct.

The stop leak will probably not work. There is a gasket there, or it could be a bad hose. Put some UV dye in and you will find the leak.

There's a great writeup in the sticky that will help you with your tach install.

White smoke all the time or just when the engine is cold?

the smoke just has a little white tinge to it just barely noticable. When I get on it it blows black.

Is it a constant haze of smoke or puffs? Stock injectors or big ones?

It is a haze I guess it is there but you have to look at ti right to see it . the injectors are new , 40 hp or so they said.

It's the injectors, they are hazing. Try more timing.

Turning radius can be affected by a different steering box. My box broke so I got a box at the junkyard, everything bolted on but I had to change pitman arms. The box turned 3 and quarter turns stop to stop, the new boxs turns 4 stop to stop. Somehow this changed my turning radius. To the left it turns on a dime to the right it doesn't turn as tight, and now my steering wheel sits a half turn out of whack. So possibly your box is a replacement.

timing bump

I went to the sticky section and saw how the timing is increased but how will I know how far to go ? I do not want to mess up anything. It seems pretty simple but that is what makes me nervous. Thanks for the diagnosis by the way .

Try 1/8" separation between the timing marks and see how it goes.

Unless you tow heavy, it's hard to hurt one of these things with timing.

I looked at the injector pump and I could see a mark on the flange by the bolt however I noticed that there was another mark on the casing on the timing case and it looks like the timing has already been bumped. how much space should there be between the top of the injector pump and the top of the engine. It does not appear that mine has a lot of rom to adjust. Could the timing be too far advanced ? Thanks for all the great information.
