Will a 94-98 aftermarket 3" intake horn clear the hood on a 1st gen?

I know the factory '94-'02 ones will, as I have a 24v intake horn on my black '85 crew cab.

some of the "pusher" style intake horns will and some won't, from what i've seen reported. as mr.oliver stated, a 2nd gen 24v intake will clear and is used by many. engine ****.

That sounds like a better idea to me! What size intake boots do I need to buy? While I have my truck apart I'm going to do 3" inner cooler pipes and a 2nd gen innercooler.

I installed a 24V intake horn, using 2nd gen pipes and boots connected to a 24V intercooler. I also installed a '96 HX-35 turbo at the same time.
This was all on a non intercooled motor and using a '91.0 core support and the later style grille.
There was some cutting, grinding and holes saw work, but I just used parts I had around the shop.

There is a write up in the sticky that I loosely followed.

I have a Pusher Intake 3" horn for a '94-'98 on mine. I can tell you it just barely fits but I had to remove the grid heater and underhood light to make room as its arch is quite high. It's probably been 4 years since I put it on so it's possible the new ones are different but don't take it as gospel. Pusher does make and has made intakes for 91.5-'93 trucks for a while now though.

Pusher makes a three inch intake for our first gens, which will clear the hood with or without the grid heater. I am running it with the grid heater.

Did you have to use a 24v intake manifold or do the holes line up and also did you have to get a 24v grid heater or can you use stuff from the 12V?

And to piggyback on Hillbilly, here is Tim Wuorlines 3" intake horn, on top of the stock grid heater, which sits on top of Crazy Carl's billet intake plate.
I was originally worried about the clearance because the CC intake plate has a design that adds additional height to allow better airflow passages to the outer cylinders, but the fit up went well.

the 24v intake will bolt directly to your existing grid heater/manifold.
