injector pump leak

I just noticed fuel dripping off the bottom of my injector pump. it is just a few drips but they are steady. The truck runs great but this has me quite worried. Any suggestions as to what could be other than a loose line? Thanks

Ever had the pump rebuilt yet? How many miles on it?

I had to replace all the seals on mine shortly after low sulfer diesel came out.

Can you clean it up and see exactly where the leak originates? Some get away with just replacing the problem seal.

The first thought that went through my head was seals. Any idea what something like that would cost?

A pump seal kit is usually 35-40 bucks and has everything in it you will need

it could be the fuel line goin to the pump, I know after i've torn mine apart a few times, those little washers on that fuel line are shot and i need to replace them. Mine is leakin a little right now too and I need to get it fixed by winter. But clean it up good and see if you can see where the fuel is comin out of.

There is a complete thread dedicated for this exact problem in the "sticky" thread, someone took one apart and posted all the pics. All in all it isn't hard but a word of advice would be 'remember exactly where every parts was before disassembly and how it was positioned like how many threads in or how many threads out' then You will be just fine.

There is a cover that's low on the pump, exactly where the KSB solenoid mounts to the pump, but on the other side (against the engine.) It's a small steel plate held on by two screws. It's a common leak, and they have improved the o-ring that's behind it. I have repaired several by simply replacing the o-ring with the revised one. The only downside is that the pump has to be removed from the truck for access.

Torquefan - I believe you are correct. I have looked at the pump and it is just a few drips. It seems to be coming from the back side of the pump all I can see are a few drips on the bottom . I saw a you tube video on how to remove the pump but I will look at the sticky thing. By the way what will happen if I keep driving the truck as is? I don't drive it very much just occassional hauling my tractor etc. Thanks for the heads up . I really like reading all the posts here on this site.

It will keep leaking fuel. Might get worse, might not. Won't damage anything but your fuel bill.

I put some 2 stroke oil or ATF in the fuel and that keeps it from leaking
