Injector pump leak..
Happy New Year everyone! (I have not written in a long time, but I read alot). I have discovered a leak on the top of my injector pump. I tightened the nut under the small fuel line on the front top near the gear cover, it stopped leaking a couple of days ago, and now it's leaking slowly. Anyone else have this experience? What did you do? I contancted Piers, they have a turned up pump for $1195.00, is that a good deal? They told me it's probably the shaft seal and...something else.
Thanks for any help in advance, Patrick

Hi Bluebird;
I also have experinced a on again, off again leak around the throtle shaft. I checked with a place here in Wichita,Ks. "Diesel Specialist". I can get a rebuilt Inj. pump for roughly $375. FWIW
I can get you a phone # if you wish, just pm me.

I have never done business with Piers, however, they seem to really support the community well, so I hate to bad mouth them. That said, I wouldn't pay $1200 for a VE pump. If I were going to drop that kind of money, I'd look into a p pump conversion.

Wow, if I could convert to a P-Pump for that kind of dollars I'd probably need some kind of "intervention" from the guys in the 1st Gen 12 step program to keep on the wagon...
Seriously, you should be able to have the leak around the throttle shaft bushing repaired dirt cheap.
You do NOT need a brand new/rebuilt pump unless, and only unless you really have other issues that point directly at a new or rebuilt to fix you problem.
Call me at the PDR shop if you're interested, and I'll try to help you out with some info or ideas....
Use the toll free line and ask for Pastor Bob....
Pastor Bob... repeat after me... smoke is good, smoke is good....
