Injector pump
Injector pump
Was having a hard to start problem with losing fuel pressure after truck had been sitting for about 4 hours. Found a leak on the injector pump. Can't really tell where it is coming from. Was wondering about how much it typically costs to have one rebuilt.
Re:Injector pump
Just had mine go out last week. USDIESELPARTS.com is I think the place were I got mine. The price was 895.00. You minght want to just have your fixed. Thats what I did to mine when some kind of valve went bad.
DM01
Re:Injector pump
Your pump may not need rebuilding. A side plate closest to the engine on the VE is prone to leaking as well as the shaft seal. Unfortunately, the pump has to come off either way.
Re:Injector pump
THIS place should have what you need. You could also contact Piers at http://www.piersdiesel.com
Re:Injector pump
Thats where mine was leaking from. I thought it would be a simple fix well it was something else that caused the seal to break. So you might want to have the pump checked out while you have it off. Just a thought. [undecided]
DM01

Re:Injector pump
There are two common areas that our pumps can leak from...
One is the plate/o-ring area on the back of the pump. This usually fails due to running higher pressure in the pump than is "good for it". The KSB has been know to cause this when used for things other than cold start advance.....

The second spot is right in the center of the injector line connections on the pump head itself. In the center is a bolt that seals off the internal area of the pump. It is removed when using "pump lift" timing method. Sometimes the bolt just works loose, and sometimes the o-ring fails or starts to leak.

Bob

Re:Injector pump
The KSB is the small cylindrical object with a spade terminal on one end that is on the side of the VE on the drivers side. It aids in cold starts by advancing the timing and upping the pressure from 4 bar to 8 bar. I doubt the KSB was your problem DMan.
Re:Injector pump
well Dave's Diesel called my today and said that my pump broke a spring and it took out a few things in the pump
It will cost 700 bucks to fix. He said I need a new cam plate in it also. But on the good side he put it on a flow bench and said he would give me all the power he could. ;D
DM01
