how are my pyro/boost readings?
Autometer Phantom series installed today. on the freeway, @ cruising 60mph, I puched it hard and got it up to 80mph. Boost instantly shot up from 10 psi to 26 psi. Ranit floored up a very slight grade and EGT's never climed over 850 degrees. I was curious to find out these readings with the 9cm2 WG with HX 35 turbo pulled out of a 2001 CTD. Man, this truck is quick to respond! Let me know if these readings are the "norm". Carmyne
Carmyne- Pre turbo or post turbo? It they are post turbo all sounds normal. 26 psi means the wastegate is opening on your turbo.
I strongly suggest you move the pyro probe to the exhaust manifold. The HY-35 housing is very restrictive, and the pressure drop through the housing causes a wider difference in temp readings between the manifold and the down pipe than the large turbine housings that are normally used. Normally you add 100 degrees per 10 psi of boost to post-turbo readings to come up with an approximate temp in the manifold, but with the small housings like the 9 and 12 cm ones this is not even close. Where a guy with a 16 cm housing would have 1100 degrees in the manifold, you are likely up around 1300 degrees.

sorry, these EGT readings are pre-turbo, probe at the manifold. I went out today to run an errand and rechecked mi stats and was able to get it up to 30 psi boost for a fraction of a second, EGT went to 975 for that moment. Are we good? Carmyne
*Normal* numbers with stock turbo and 16cm housing at 65mph on level ground would be something like 0-2 psi boost and 600-650 degrees pre-turbo. If you are really pre-turbo then you have wonderful numbers. Add more fuel!
Carmyne, those numbers sound too low to be right for pre-turbo. You have 40 HP injectors and I assume the pump has been played with, you ought to be running a lot hotter than that at WOT. I'd want to borrow another probe to double check those numbers before you rely on that gauge.
wanna, the probe is a brand new autometer phantom series along with the boost. I don't know for a fact that the pump has been modded; I am the 3rd owner. The 9cm2 HX35 turbo assembly is rated at 235 HP for an '01... maybe she's giving my truck the best of all worlds? Quickness, awsome spool up, low EGT's, and boost #'s up to 30 psi(WOT). All connections are clean/tight. Maybe I've become a "Pioneer". Carmyne

Those numbers are real good....it also suggests, as some have mentioned, that your pump is perhaps "slightly tweaked" and not cranked too hard.
You should aim for tweaking and tuning so that your upper end EGT hits 1200 - 1250*F MAX !!
Now, most of us totally disregard that threshold on a daily basis, it doesn't mean we'll get away with it forever but it is common to be able to journey beyond that for very short runs and still have things hold together for you.
Piers Harry once told me the following, in relation to our 1st gen trucks:
>>1250*F - all day long...(if you do, keep an eye on water temps because the block/head/exhaust/coolant system eventually become heat saturated and you'll need to back out of it if you see your water temps start to rise, otherwise you're good to go.
>>1350*F - 1 minute out of 5 and allow for proper cool down...also try to have the EGT decrease slowly if possible rather than a "foot off/zero throttle free fall of the pyro. It's the radical rise/drop that does damage as it doesn't allow the metals to cool slowly enough.
>>1500*F - 15 seconds max and LOTS of cool down (again, slowly if possible) beyond that you are looking at Chernyobl any minute...
