How do i get MORE smoke???
In case u cant tell from the ? I am new to the great world of diesels. I just bought a 1992 D-350 DRW and it was totally stock. So far I have put a K&N and and straight pipe on it. The reason i am asking this is becouse im fixen to put stacks on it . I want as much smoke as i can get without going out and spending $500 bucks. I have red thru alot of different post on this site and to tell u the truch i have know idea what most of u guys r talking about. So saying that please be explanatory. THANK U
Take the cover off the AFC housing, pull out the fuel pin and the spring, turn the star wheel all the way clockwise, then put the pin back with the deepest side to the front. Then set the smoke screw all the way in. It'll look like you're fogging for mosquitos until the turbo spools up.
And shifting early and bogging the motor makes for huge clouds. It will look like you're making 4 times the power you actually have.
Put a pyro gauge on before you do this, you could fry the motor if you aren't able to keep an eye on the EGT.

I got the pump maxed out on my 93 and she only puts out a small puff and I do mean SMALL. I might be able to fog an ant hill
took the diaphram out and she smoked a LOT but fuel was leaking out so I had to put it back in

Thank u very much for the info. The link u gave is very helpful. This weekend im going to try and get the pyro, stacks, and do those adjustment. I will let u know how it turns out. Thanks again for the help and the schooling on this thing.
please do NOT remove the AFC cone assembly and run the truck like that. if you do, you'll very likely have a fuel leak because the guide pin will protrude much too far and, actually come close to coming out of it's little o-ring inside the pump.

You can turn in the smoke screw for now, then get gauges before you go any further. Read up on changing turbo housings so you can make use of the fuel when the gauges are in and you turn up the pump. That, and the new exhaust will help keep your EGT's under control.
