ULSD No More Black Smoke...now white smoke?
i did a search and really didnt find any answers.
im on my 2nd or 3rd tank of ULSD and i noticed that i dont have black smoke anymore its now a greyish white and you can barely see now. also i noticed my egt's are a little higher now.
is this normal for ULSD?

I heard it burns hotter to reduce soot. I also heard they are going to put some sort of after burner cat on the newer trucks to burn the soot up and reduce emissions.

I think that you might have a grayer smoke from the smaller particulate matter that the ULSD might make. I noticed that this summer when I ran it in my truck, and with B99 I got an almost yellow haze instead for smoke. I still get black smoke with the diesel here in OK (not sure what the real ppm is, some stations that I buy fuel from will probably stop carrying diesel when they have to switch to the ULSD). So I'd just think that its the ULSD and nothing to worry about.
