homemade air duct?

homemade air duct?

can somebody tell me the perf advantage of the 4'' homemade air duct. i saw the post on making it, but did'nt know the benefits.

I'm assuming you mean from the air filter to the turbo? I think most see a slight turbo whistle increase. Other than that, I'm not sure of any real performance benefits.

yes thats it.should have made it clearer.i did'nt know since it was in the perf section what real gains could be had. my air box has had squares cut out of it and the ring took out of the turbo,but not muck whistle.thanks for the info

Do you have a stock H1C?
Most people replace the stock air hose with 4 inch plumbing to allow easier hook up to the Big Honking Air Filter.

Yes it is a stock H1C but I bought a filter with a 4 1/2" flange to hook up to the stock plumbing.

i dont know about any BHAF,is this what a stock filter is called,or is this a special filter.

The biggest restriction in the stock intake is upstream of the filter, not behind it. It's the little opening where the breather tube goes through the radiator support. That's where I'd start if I was looking for better intake performance.
