Yes the shutoff solenoid is bad. 99% chance. that exactly what ours was doin when it died. it would shut off fule to like one cylinder but the engine would still run and it idled down and loped and stuff. hope this helps. Brandon

Have you played with the fuel screw? When you crank that screw in, it raises the idle. You should be able to back off the idle but perhaps you are nearing a runaway and can't quite get there (idle). Try shutting it down with the shut down lever. If it won't, You'll have to back out the fuel screw a little bit. Just enough to be able to shut it down.

IF you haven't modded your truck or turn up the fuel, i don't thing the rubber on the plunger is bad, but the metal part of the plunger is scared from years of us.

I pull mine out and sanded the rough parts off from the stem of the shut down plunger.............Only cause it to shut done for a week or so.

Added some stanadyne(sorry for the spelling) fuel treatment((purple bottle) it shuts down 90% of the time now and when it don't, i can turn the key back on and then off and it will stop.

To me, this just shows how Crappy of a lube our new low sulfur fuel is

Give it a try before you remove the fuel shut of valve...........It will only cost ya a bottle (1/3 of a bottle) for finding out.

Flash.
