For any other model/make of truck, the B+Ws are fine and a simple bolt-on affair.

Not so on the 1st Gen. Dodge design.

The bed has to come off for mounting, and (I think) spacers have to be installed underneath the bed.

I looked into a B+W for one of my own trucks, as I thought it would be quick and easy, but I was enlightened before I layed my money down.

If I have to remove the bed, I will just do like most on here have and build a bigger/better hitch of my own.

Do a search and you will find a thread with numerous pictures of home-grown hitches.

I purchased mine about 5 years ago.
I didnt removed the bed all the way I just removed the nuts off the bolts.
I had a buddy lift the bed off the frame and i slipped a 4x4 between the bed and the frame.
Then i picked up 2pcs of 3/4 x 3 flat bar from a local steel co.
Bolted the goosneck plate to the flat bar.
Then i had a buddy to stick weld the flat bar to the frame.
Have not had a single problem with it.
Pulled a 38ft horse trailer from Las vegas NV to Pinehurst North Carolina and back to Las Vegas.
Truck trailer and load wieghed 24985lbs. and still got 12 miles to the gallon at 70mph in cruise control.

awesome. can't pull the 4hrs/lq w my 3/4 ton. gas rig pulls it fine but mpg sucks! the o1 gmc big blk dually is rated 14.5k off the axle. they're stopping some truck/hrs trlrs her in ca and ariz and checking for overload. big ticket and if you are heavy you can't drive it off. at one horse show in ariz last yr they were giving 'courtesy checks' going in and if you were heavy they warned you . they were going to be checking on the way back. people were swapping horses to others' trailers just to get out of the state. tc

Question question about a gooseneck adapter.............

I currently have a gooseneck setup in my 93' pickup. I really like the design and hides away when not in use. My question is: I plan to pull a 5th Wheel travel trailer sometime in the next few years and I would like to find a 5th wheel kingpin to gooseneck ball adapter. I have seen a couple of brands online. Does anyone on this forum have one or knows someone who uses one? I think these adapters are pretty sweet and would allow me to use my existing gooseneck setup without buying the big, bulky 5th wheel plate.

I have used one in my B&W hitch. it came with the Teflon disc and works excellent. There is no complaints to be made about it.

You might want to ask that question in the Towing/RV section for more input.
