good and band news

the good news is I found another pickup, it is an '89 2wd, reg cab, 1 ton, single wheel, with an auto tranny.
the bad news is I turned it up: fuel screw in 2-3 turns, starwheel in 1 turn, and fuel pin facing deep side towards radiator, and now it will not start, I set pump back to stock, changed battery and it still will not start, help is greatly appreciated

First off- did you knock the wire off the shutdown solenoid while you were messing with the main fuel screw?

Try stepping on the accelerator when you attempt to start it, you may have turned 'er down so much that it won't idle.

It's gotta be something simple.

Long shot, but maybe something got stuck on the manual kill lever and was holding it down? It's gotta be something simple like dave said.

I'd put money on it being the fuel shutoff solenoid wire being loose/disconnected. Then again, you know what they say about a fool and his money...

I was driving the truck one day when it just died. I had no idea what it was until I got under the hood. I hadn't gotten the fuel shutoff solenoid connector on all the way and it slipped off.

Luckily that can't happen to us anymore. The guts from my solenoid are in the garbage!!

yall were right, I did knock of my fuel shutoff solenoid wire, I hooked it back up and it fired right up, so I turned it back up, but it is set on runaway, what exactly do I need to turn down/back off to get it to idle, help is greatly appreciated, again

Running away, or just idling fast? If it's running away, turn the main fuel screw back out at least 1/2 turn. If it's just idling fast, adjust the idle speed screw (the screw the throttle lever sits on at idle) to slow the idle.

thanks again, that did the trick, I guess I had the fuel screw cranked in pretty good, it took about 1 full turn back to get it to idle
