Good News and Bad News

Bad news first: Just filled up my truck at the cheapest station in town, and diesel was $4.39.9 as gallon. I don't even want to repeat how much a tank of fuel costs at that rate because I find it depressing when you have three numbers to the left of the decimal point.

Good news: This tank was about half running around town in stop & go traffic and the rest was towing a 6k trailer around in the hills. My mileage hand calculated to 15.1 mpg, and my overhead read 15.0 which is the closest it has ever come to my actual mileage. I think this is pretty darn good for a big truck like this. From what I read on certain other sites, there are people who would kill to get this kind of mileage empty on the highway.

Good truck!

15 isn't bad, but 18+ is better. Add an airfilter and a straight through muffler and mileage should improve.

I've pulled 20+ running empty on the highway at 70 mph or just under (just short of 2000 rpm), but I feel pretty good about 15 mpg with a combination of round town and light towing. Of course, I would feel even better doing it on diesel that cost half as much.

Get a ROKK tech sensor, and slow down a bit and you will see a VAST improvement!
