Fuel Pin Questions

What kind of changes in performance will I see from rotating my fuel pin? I turned it 90 degrees clockwise so that the deeper side should be facing the radiator/front of the truck. Also, when I took it out, it had some residue on it. Is this normal with age and use? My truck has about 445,000 miles on it, and this is the first time the AFC cover has ever been taken off and the first time the fuel pin has been touched. There was also a small amount of fuel around the starwheel area, but my friends truck did not have any fuel puddling up in his. Just curious if this means anything or not.

Thanks,

Dawson

Residue is normal, that's what's left of the grease that was put there from the factory. A little fuel is not unusual, but as long as it's not spilling out the AFC vent it's not a big issue.

Thanks Wannadiesel. What kind of changes in performance will result from rotating the pin?

Rotating it so the deep side is forward will give you more power. Don't just go by where it was stock and rotate it a certain amount, they are all over the place. Examine the pin closely, find the deep side, and put it towards the front.

That is what I did. I marked it first, pulled it out, and then rotated it so the deep side was facing to the front. A friend of mine told me that it might improve mileage some so I was curious if it might. Although if it is sending a lot more fuel then that wouldn't make sense to me.

Thanks,

Dawson

Won't hurt mileage as long as you don't change your driving style, though.

I have a pretty laid back driving style. I may be 20 years old, but all my friends say I drive like a grandpa.
