fuel gauge issues
i have a 93 dually with a 12v. the fuel gauge works when full but after a half it either bounces or just lays down. the fuel light does still work. im thinking im going to have to replace sending unit. but with all this knowledge in one place. figured i would see if anyone has been through this before. any advice or ideas are greatly appreciated. hope you all had a merry christmas
Every dodge I've owned I've had to replace the fuel sending unit. Couple hours work to drop the tank and install the new one. Make sure you purchase a new tank seal as well. $6 extra is well worth it.
Once you pull it apart if you have a plastic welder you can probably fix the one you have. The plastic for the arm gets worn out and allows the resistor to go open when it gets below the full mark. The low fuel warning light is ran off a second arm that closes the circuit once it reaches 5-7ish gallons.
I really wish I would have taken pictures when I did mine. But to be honest if I knew they were only 60$ I probably woulda just bought one.

I had to do that with my Toyota, as it was a real PITA to pull the tank. My dodges were relatively easy once the fuel was nearly empty.

The bolts were frozen, and my torch wasn't working at the time...

Everything was replaced due to rust

maybe a few more of those micro brews and that torch would have seemed like the right tool
