D250 Dana 70 wheel seal leak and bearings.
If you look at the picture on page 3, the wheel cylinder pushes both shoes out. The adjuster cable is anchored to the parking brake lever piviot bolt. When the wheel cylinder pushes out the shoe, it tightens the cable pulling on the spring connected to the adjuster arm. To me it looks like any braking action will pull on the adjuster.
I can think of two things that can cause an auto adjuster to over tighten.
1. Brake drum out of round. The shoe and adjuster can make a click as it follows the "square" drum.
2. Possibly an oversized drum and shoes that don't match the radius. The shoe would have to flex for it to move the adjuster.
Either way, it's time for a new drum.
Take them to a good brake or machine shop and have them turned to a true round condition. Certainly even the cheap Chinese drums have enough meat to true them up...Mark
