New seal looks differnt than old seal - Dana 80 pininon
Got a new pinion seal today for Dana 80 rear end. NATIONAL 4525V is the part number. Looks like it should work but it doesn't have the big outer flange that the original one had. Should I use the new seal or check with the Dodge garage?
Any opinions?
Thanks,
Dave Smith
I won't put it in until I hear from somebody with experience.

when i did a gear change , i all so had a seal like the one you have, it was not built as strong as the original, and it was a bear to install , and yes it was leaking right from the frist miles, i went and found one that looked like the original
installed it with more ease , about 20,000 miles later no leaks , i was told by napa that the lighter seal is for a lighter duty, but i realy dont know about that
hope this helps
