And that's about all she wrote for the donor 93...now it's sell a few more parts to recoup some of my initial outlay....already recouped over 1/2 the purchase price for the donor 93!!

I will start tearing into the crewcab in the next day or so.

 

I've had the machine work done to the transfer case so I can run the bigger 29 spline input shaft and bearing. Dropped it off at my machinist and he had it done in a couple hours....and charged me $60....

I should have the T-case finished up tomorrow I hope. Been working on it for a few weeks now...just a few minutes here and there, when I have time between everything else.

 

I noticed a sliding rear window in the '93 donor. Did you sell it by chance? I merely need a replacement latch is all. I understand if you don't want to part with it if you aim to sell the entire assembly as a whole.

The project is coming along nicely!! I sure wish I had the time and space to do a lot of clean up/restoration work. I have a feeling that once I rip my motor out for a rebuild, I'll have a hard time keeping myself from restoring the entire truck!

 

Hey Jim check on e bay I believe there is a guy selling the latches on there pretty cheap also .

 

I think a latch off a ford truck will work as well. Mid 80's if I remember right.

Sorry Jimbo...not parting out the back slider. Probably end up using it in the crewcab as well.

 

The latch is should still be available from the dealer, its about $10. At least that is what I paid a year ago.

 

I am glad to see that I am not the only one that does this type of project It will be worth it though. You will have a nice truck when you are finished!

LOL I have been watching for about a month I am a big fan of crew cabs and one tons In fact I was checking out a really clean first gen D350 flatbed at Home Depot this after noon.

Should start tearing it apart next week. Concentrate on the drive line and suspension first...then interior..then paint, if the weather is somewhat decent. If not then will drive it all patchy like until spring.

 

Hey -- I hadn't been following your thread here, as I'm not on the forum too much these days, but it looks as though you are making good progress!

The "mystery brackets" on the inner fenders are not brackets, per se, but are the structure that keeps the shape of the flat front portion from flexing -- without that, the bend just in front of the well would just be like a wet noodle, there is no section depth there.

I apologize if I missed it in here, but where did you get the splash guards for the disc brakes? I was told by my dealer five years ago that they were discontinued, and bought a set from Chevy . . .

Thanks for the heads up on the brackets from the inner fenders. Seems odd they would ad them later in production after years of producing the same basic inner fender on all the rams? Not sure what year they started showing up?

And the disc brake shields I got off E-bay. Paid about $35 a piece for them. They did not look NOS, so I would assume they are making them again. Or they are from a GM application?
