A couple 93 questions.

Awesome site to start with! I've had several 1st 2nd and 3rd gens over the years and have always found I've wanted another 1st for some odd reason so I bought 1 yesterday. Nice clean 250. Elec windows and locks power mirrors all work. Looks brand new on the inside. Only issue is slight oil leak from bottom side of turbo. Looks to be the turbo drain tube gasket but I can't figure out is why the oil pressure is correct at idle but when you get it into 5th and punch it, the pressure drops down pretty low. Any suggestions?

Don't put much faith in the accuracy of the stock gauge. Check it with a manual gauge before you believe there is an oil pressure issue. Mine did alot of funny stuff till I put some electric grease on the connection at the sensor.

Just seemed like it was doing the exact opposite of what it should do. I'm changing the oil today and I'll put a manual gauge on it and let you know. Thank you.

I would suspect a bad sending unit. I've seen a few with that sort of goofy behavior when they wear out. Good idea verifying it with a manual gauge though, as you mentioned.

I rigged up a gauge with some extra pieces I had laying around and pressure was fine. Put a new sending unit in and the factory Gauge reads correctly now. Only problem now it the new gasket for the turbo drain tube didn't leak until I drove it to the car wash. I popped the hood and I guess it only leaks going down the road? Maybe the bolts could be bottoming out not getting it tight? Maybe the turbo housing is cracked and opens up when you get a full boost? The joys of fixing something someone has already rigged up!

Yep it looks like you're on the right track looking further into the leak issue. Has somebody else been messing around with the turbo? You may end up taking the turbo and drain line off together and putting them on the workbench so you can get a better look at what's going on. A crack might be hard to spot laying under the truck with oil dripping in your eyes.

Exclamation

Got it all fixed up today, the bolts were wrong. I have a spare motor so I swapped the bolts out and bam no oil leak. Now its time to start playing With the pump!!
