boost question

boost question

Hey guys, with the mods in my sig, i am seeing about 26 pounds of boost. does this sound right? is there any way to tell where the wastegate is set? i wouldnt think it would be set at 26. also, i have the stock turbo. does this sound right for it?

It might be set at 26 psi. Those injectors can flow enough fuel to make well over that, but your pump settings might be conservative.

You can test the wastegate with an air compressor (be careful, the actuator won't appreciate 100 psi), or you can try adjusting it to see if you can make more boost.

Ok, well it was the wastegate. i turned the rod in a few screws and im at about 30 pounds of boost now. Im on the stock turbo, so im gonna leave it there for now. is this safe? Also, when i get the GDS stage 3 kit, what can i safely run?

30 is plenty out of the stock turbo.

Let the EGT be your guide. Start at 30 and go up. If EGT gets cooler, keep going. When it stops cooling down, you have enough boost. Don't run it over 40 psi, though.

OK, so should i stop at 30 pounds, with the stock turbo, or can i go up on that?

Same deal here. Kind of. My 35 is only making 23 lbs of boost. My stock turbo made more. so I just turn the actuator rod? tighten or loosen? Thanks

i tightened the rod, about 2 turns gained me 4 pounds of boost, so im guessing its about 2 pounds a turn.
