I recommend the BHAF as well. Part #'s can be found up in the Tech Facts section. A template for making a nice BHAF mount is in Bumpytruck's photo gallery.

I prefer the Wix or NAPA BHAF instead of the k&n anyday. In fact, my k&n and airbox is still laying in the basement gathering dust. Think of the BHAF as

AIRR PPOWERR!!!!!!!!!!

I did this last weekend, and bent the Bumpytruck copy of the Old Smokey mount out of brite tread alum by hand. Pretty easy, but I got a piece of 90* weldable steel to put on my wood workbench to give the alum something solid to bend around. The 1/2" lip on the top of the mount wasn't really necessary, and was a pain to bend (But I did it anyway, even though its hidden). I also rented a 5" hole saw for the BHAF cut out and that worked great with my 1/2" drill.

You'll be glad you did first time it rains, that lip keeps water that runs in off the hood from dripping off the back of the mount onto the filter.

Ahhh. Whew; dodged misfortune by following directions. Thanks for the explanation! Since I live in WA state, it rains a fair bit all the time.

Where does one acquire a 'pre filter' (Outerwears; is that a brand name?) for the BHAF?

Yup... www.outerwearsracing.com
$26.75
My part # was WR3325-105BL Fleetguard
WR= water resistant
BL= blue color
$34.48 shipped to San Diego , California

These pre filters work killer. I have used them on bikes and they are a must for dusty, dirty conditions.

The bestKDP thread. Read that thread, and the threads it links you to and you'll have a good understanding.
