1991 fuel module

The fuel module in tank is rusted up. Part steel and plastic. Steel part is gone. I guess it is obsolete. Does anyone have any ideas? I seen some on ebay the part number is 4798671 from mopar it says fit 96-98. Does anyone know if it will work? The screen in bottom is shot also. Any help appreciated.

Can you post a pic of it?

I doubt if the second gen will work, but you never know.

Also if your lines are the issue ( rust ), are they inserted thru a rubber bung like the second gen is? If so, a draw straw might be an option.

As far as i know they are the same... heck if you look at the late model trucks the collar that holds them down appears to be the same. In my rclb to ccsb conversion i bought my "module" on fire welding (durh should have protected.. i know better but was being lazy) and the supply return plastic **** is the same on the gassers as the diesel... I even looked into getting a whole 2nd gen module but in the end get the piece i needed for 1$ at the pick an pull here. Proceed with caution but i am fairly certain they are the same. I mean with could change? both are diesel and have mechanical pumps....

good luck

There's no reason you couldn't use a gasser adapter and replace the immersed fuel pump with a hose and screen.

I am interested in a draw straw or something different then stock. I'll be watching this thread to see what comes of it.

i am going to try the one for 2nd gen. I can send it back if it dont fit.
I was going to replace fuel lines. They are metal now should i replace with rubber ones or what? I got all kind of rust in my fuel filter which caused truck not to run. It came from the module that rusted up.

thanks

I wouldn't use rubber hose especially on the suction side. I would makeup some new steel lines.

A little late, but I replaced my fuel lines with nylon lines. My 91.5 had steel lines, but rubber hose adapting them to newer-style quick-connectors at the tank, so its not that hard to convert over to completely new style lines/hardware. The '90's I've seen would require a nylon style barbed coupler to adapt to rubber to go to the steel inlet & outlet on the tank.

That was years ago, it works well, and the nylon, obviously, doesn't rust like the original.
