Ya know I may end up with dual spring bushing temp. gauges. That would really make em wonder. ( If nothing else about my sanity)

 

A little more just to see how it all goes together. It is just sitting together so ignore the stuff in the back it is just to keep it all from falling over. most of it isn't welded yet. I will do that on the truck. At least tack it good)

Have to ask on that kick a$$ vice....how old and where did it come from?

 

My dad came home with that vice one day about 30 some years ago. I have no idea where he got it.
My guess on age would be somewhere around the late 1800s to early 1900s
I have seen them in old blacksmiths shops.


My goal on the spring hangers is to allow torsional movement but restrict side to side movement. I think that is what cracks the factory hangers.

 

Here is a picture of my long term project. It is a 52 GMC 1/2 ton. I cut the frame off at the firewall and grafted the front of a 75 Camaro sub frame to it. I also boxed the frame and made a cross member ( imagine that)
To fit a 76 Monty Carlo triangulated four link.
I tell you it's a sickness it is!

I thought I saw a Cougar in the background in some pictures in your build thread. I am a big fan of the cougars. Very nice!

 

Whoa, way cool to know they put a 428CJ in the XR7.

A buddy has a pair of Eliminators ( 69 and 70 ) in 428CJ, but never knew they did any XR7's.

HI MK, Not tryin to take over your post. I've had my XR-7 a long time. It took 13 years to find all the missing date coded motor pieces. So she was just like she rolled off the Dearborne assembly line.

like I said I am a big fan of the early cougars and a big block powered one is all the better.

 

I'm a die hard Mopar man but a buddy of mine had one of those old Cougars growing up and it was WAY cool.

 

Todays fun at least so far. I am going to cut out the stock D250 transmission tunnel and replace it with this one from a W250


I hadn't planed to go this far on this but there are random little surface rust spots here and there. I figure the only way to get them all is to strip the paint off the part.
I still haven't decided where and how much I will trim off the sides. Here it is so far.
