Those adjustable shift detent kit for the NP205, from JB are on my want list. For the money i don't know why I haven't got them yet.

Now Here's a question for you twin stickers....I came across a reference of a fellow who has a twin stick set-up in his truck, and a NV4500. Now many NV4500 users complain for the big gear ratio split between 3rd and 4th.

This guy claimed he used 2LO to make up the difference between the two gears? So I assume he shifts to 4th, then also pulls the NP205 stick into 2LO....would that be correct in my assumption? And is this actually possible without harming anything?

In the old days all big trucks had a main box and a brownie that's the way you would do it. At one time my Dad had an 18 and a 4 speed brownie. There were guys that could shift both boxes at the same time.

But I don't think that would be a good split either if you could even get it in 2 lo spinning that fast.

Well there is a bit of a split in the 3rd/4th Getrag as well...so you can try and give this a go when you get your truck going then....

Wouldn't 4th in low range make it seem like 4th is 1.96 ratio instead of 1.00? 3rd gear is 1.6 so you'd be going higher than 3rd gear and increasing your rpms and slowing down.

Seems to me that going from 2hi/3rd to 2lo/4th would be a downshift.

That's what I thought. I think th reduction on the NP 205 is 1.96:1 That would be a big difference in rpm.

For the NV4500:

4LO 1.96, 3HI 1.67, 5LO 1.45, 4HI 1, 5HI.74

That is how you shift if you want to use the t-case to split.

It is not very progressive -- that is, the "gaps" between the gears are not all the same, and the shift from 5lo to 4hi is still pretty big. Worse yet, the 3hi to 5lo shift requires you to shift the transmission from 3-5 before you can double the input speed on the t-case to make the downshift from hi to lo.

I can't make these shifts in any way fast enough for it to be worth doing with a load.

I was sorting through the hardware that came with the urethane cab bushings I can't figure out what I am supposed to do with these.
Half are too short and the other half are even shorter. It looks like they are even too short to keep the bolt from moving around like a baseball bat in a rain barrel.

So I resurrected the old ones. Maybe they will work better.

I have Nick (PapeCAT) to thank for the find. I was kind of surprised when I saw it just sticking out in the breeze the way it was. My first thought was something has got to be wrong, this is too easy.

Not too many people are messing around with these old dodges. Actually the RR box retrofit is a hard sale for a lot of people, they prefer crossover. This forum is the only one I've seen that has "seen the light" haha.

If you look at it It just makes sense. There is way more strength with the side of the frame in a shear condition than a pull/push. I told my wife it is like bending a wire back and forth from the factory She got it
