14mm head and rotor

Does anybody know how reliable these are. I have a rebuilt pump on my truck with 10k on it and everything else is untouched. I want to be in the 400-500 horse range and im changing my mind on a p pump. I was thinking a phatshaft 62-71-14, new era 435s, and a raptor fuel pump etc. Any suggestions im just throwing around the idea right now and i dont know anything about it. I drive my truck everyday right now.

Hit and miss, from what I understand. KTA has more dealings with them more than anyone here.

your gonna need bigger then 435's

try custom 6x16's. 5x14's will hurt the already not reliable 14mm head.

Its really hit and miss like posted above, i would never have one on daily driver truck

You can achieve the 400-500h.p. range w/out the 14mm h/r. You pob. wont hit 500, but you can get close.

Noones every tried a 12mm VE pump maxed out with 6x16's and a nice turbo like twins or a S300 modified turbo (62/71 etc.)

A 5 speed truck would be the best for dyno numbers unless you convert to lockup trans and get a nice sweeet converter.

I have yet to see 450 HP from any first gen on a 12mm pump.. maybe i aint looking hard enough.

I know GLHS put out some darn good numbers ... he did 1000ftlbs on a 12mm pump. With a 62/71/14 turbo with DDp4 injectors. Man can shift too

Thats what i was figuring,it doesnt seem worth taking the chance and spending the money if it could only work for a short time. Well its time to go back and think of some more ideas..lol

I thought the whole problem was if you went to the 4mm camplate.

I've talked to KTA at length about some of this stuff. He knows a little about the 14mm's since he designed em

KTA a long while ago tried a maxed 12mm, and twins. He'd made 480 at that point with a single, and the twins only got him 486....just no more fuel to be had.

The 14mm head can be reliable or not reliable depending how its used. Brian (KTA) said that up to around 400hp worth of fuel, they seem to do fine, once you push em to 500-600hp worth of fuel and spin em high in the rpm range, that's where you're getting into trouble. Bill Gilbert has one on his truck that has twins that he's been driving on for a while, but both him and Brian have Aeromotive pumps and a few bucks in the fuel system. I'm going to see if I can cheap out and buy a high volume pump (250+GPH) and run it at about 20psi fuel pressure. That, along with a 3200rpm spring, I'm hoping that the pump will live. You also need big injectors when running a 14mm. So the answer is, if you put a 14mm head on your truck with a stock fuel system and small injectors and 4200 spring, you probably won't make it out of the driveway. If you keep the fuel pressure up and the pump not set on kill most of the time (say 500 hp?) I think they last pretty well. Just my .02 from what I've gathered so far. Hopefully in a few months I'll be able to tell you how MY 14mm is holding up
