2nd gen turbo back compatability
2nd gen turbo back compatability
Hey guys,
Lookin to do a single straight cut stack with a flapper, but most companies don't sell a 1st gen turbo back kit, especially 4". I know that the outlet of the H1C is 3" anyway, but I'm thinking about doing an HX35 which i BELIEVE has a 4" oulet out of the elbow flange. My question is, are all the bends, etc the same after the turbocharger for the 2nd gen and 1st gen? Or do I have to have a specific 1st gen for all the bends around the tranny I see under there. This is for my W350 dually. Thanks a bunch

The 2nd gen exhaust doesn't have bends to go around your transfer case. An HX35 has a 3" outlet, so you can use the stock downpipe, and adapt from there, unless the HX came from a 24 valve. If so, it has the elbow made onto the turbo back plate, then you have to change to a 12 valve back plate, or adapt a 2nd gen downpipe. I have used exhaust parts from

on my trucks. You can get each piece seperately, so I only got the extension pipes and adapted to my stacks.

thanks for the link for the 4" downpipe too!
Oh, a single stack and flapper is old school as hell. I'd love to have a small exhuast heat gaurd like dad used to have on our old rig as well.
