I'd drive to Greensboro and get it done, I'd rather trust Cummins than the other idiots.

I could it for $295 including travel time. You furnish the food and drink?

You really need to learn this yourself. My wife can do it.
She changed afuel pump on a Dakota for me once. 20 minutes, dealer required 1 1/2 hours. We still laugh about it!!

Dave (Wannadiesel) has kindly offered to do it for me at the same time as knocking off the KDP when I'm in PA in a couople of weeks. It can go that long!

This will be great and it will get me more familiar with the CTD for the future.

This is a great forum!

Denis, Since you are in the Raleigh area, You should consider the new Cummins located on I95 just north of Smithfield. They will do it right for about $100. Good price on cummins parts also.

Is the Cummins shop in Smithfield the one that was recently in Wilson, then Kenly? If so, I have been trying to track the phone number down for it. Do you have it handy? Smithfield is only a 30 minute drive from my house.

Thanks!

I agree that dealerships are thieves!

I'm going to call Cummins Atlantic today about some stuff. How much are the valve cover gaskets from Cummins?

Wow, Cummins Atlantic rocks!

Valve cover gaskets are a hair over 4 bucks! Dodge wanted over $10 each!

Denis, while you're at Cummins, buy the troubleshooting and repair manual for your engine. Just take the numbers of of the front of your engine. There should be a sticker on the head at the front of the engine on the driver's side. This will help the cummins guys get the correct manual for you.

I have one for my truck, and it is way better that one of those chilton books any day. It is however a bit expensive. I think about $80 american, but worth it considering the money you save. Good luck.

If you are at all handy with tools it's easy! I just did mine for the first time on Sunday. I replaced the gaskets, the old ones were as hard as a rock and leaking, new ones are soft and don't leak. I also replaced to O-rings on the bolts that hold the covers on (suggested by the Cummins parts guy).

For doing it the first time only it took me about 1 hour total. Real easy!

Oh yea! You might want to clean you engine first with a pressure washer. Just helps keep any crud from getting inside when you remove the covers!
