on the road, leaking axle

Oil barfing into left rear brake.
I'm on the road, need to replace the left rear bearing seals. Been searching for info.

this guy ran into problems getting the right parts:
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...4-t302450.html

Went to CarQuest and they said there are two different outer seals and two different inner seals. There's an outer seal for the heavy duty axle and a different seal for an an axle that's not heavy duty. There's an inner seal for the Spicer 60 and 70u, brake size 13x2.5, and a different seal for the Spicer 80, brake size 13x3.5.
The build sheet I have says the truck as a Dana M70/267 rear axle. So I know which inner seal I need.
I'm not sure about the outer seal. This is a 1994 Ram Diesel 2500 4x4 with automatic transmission. I'm sure the back end is bone stock. Which outer seal should I get? The vin # is 1B7KF26C5RS558237
****Also need to know the right size socket to get for the spindle nut****
I pulled out the axle and found the lock tab chewed up and fell out, fragments of it stuck back in the slot.

No outer seal on the 70, it is kind of weird, the outer seal is used on a semi floating axle like the 9-1/4 and the 60,70, and 80 they call it an inner seal because it is in the inner part of the wheel hub.

Pretty sure the socket is 2-9/16", Napa usually carries the, CarQuest should also.

Automatic equipped trucks got the 70, and manuals the 80.

Got the 2 9/16 socket and the seal, put it in. Done.
For anybody in the same boat, I suggest getting the number off the seal before you try to buy one. The seal that came up in the part store's computer for my truck didn't look right. The parts guy found a match for the number on the seal and I bought that one.

Glad you got it fixed. Breaking down on the road is a frustrating experience.

Did you make sure the differential vent wasn't clogged up before replacing the seal?

Kell hit it on the head. Get the number off the part and then match that part. I checked the vent (even showed it on youtube). Fine. I guess I became comfy with the part's houses and trusted them too much. Won't do that again. Without any hassle the job takes about 20mins. Kell, what did you use to
get the seal out?
