90 12V dead... help Please.

Ok so here's the scoop.
Last sat loaded down for a trip, the truck sputters then runs fine, 1/4 mile up the road it sputters again the runs fine, 1/4 mile up the road it sputters again and dies for good............

AAA got it to my house.
I checked power to the FSO 11.8v, I checked resistance of the FSO .22ohms, I pulled the input line from the lift pump, plenty of fuel, cracked the injector lines one at a time and if fired. I ran it around my yard for 20 mins. Revved it 3-4 times and shut it down. 10 mins later I fired it up to go to the store I get 1/4 mile down the road and it dies again.

I swapped out the fuel filter and the lift pump, primed the system, cracked the injector lines and nothing.

Now when I crack the injector lines I get a 1 foot spray out of #1, #2, and #6 cylinders BUT #3, #4, and #5 dribble out.

No I don't have a pressure gauge for the lift pump but I held my finger over the end of the input line and while I could keep it from coming out when I left go it shot out very hard.

So I am assuming that it is the pump, overflow valve, or pressure valve in the pump........... I really don't have the funds to have the pump rebuilt BUT I need the truck running.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? Or am I doomed to pulling the pump and having it rebuilt?

check for alge in the fuel, check the pump arm on the pump and when you get ti running again does it run smooth and will all cylinders drop off when you crack each line. good luck.

Well thanks for the reply I have come to find out the FSO was shot and not opening fully, thus the reason it was getting "some fuel" but not enough to pop the injectors.

I took the FSO out and just put the bung in and am using a cable to shut it off.

I just got my new FSO from Larry B's

http://www.fostertruck.com/other_solenoids.htm

$41 shipped in 2 days. Now do I really want to put it back in? I really don't want these problems again.....

I would, leave the cable, and if it ever happens again, simple thing to just unscrew the FSO, gut it and be on your way.

They don't fail that often.
