over drive on/off

does my 98 12 valve have a button to turn the over drive on and off? A friend asked me if the truck has a switch to turn it on and off, and it doesnt. The previous owner put a billet handle on the shifter that has no button. I've been driving it as is for like 47000 miles. should my truck have a switch or were they non existant on 2500 automatics of the 98 year? I'm just wondering if the old owner covered it up with the newer handle.
thanks

Yes, it came with the button on the end of the shifter. You could probably find the wiring and put your own button anywhere you want- it's just a momentary off/on button. (it doesn't latch "on", when pressed, it toggles the pcm which then locks out o/d and turns on the light.) If I remember, it's normally open.

Hope this helps, I don't think I'd like not having that.
