The valves are normally set at .010 intakes and .020 exhaust. You can take you stock plate and slide it forward just a tad, some say full forward but dyno results don't show this to be the best location...... I would recommend sliding it about 1/16"-1/18" forward of its original location. You can also add an AFC spring kit (not expensive) to help with lowend fueling.

As for the idle you can adjust the "low idle" adjusting screw located on the rear of the pump. This screw is in the vertical position and has a locknut on the bottum of it. Just lossen the locknut, adjust the screw to obatin desired RPM and then retighten locknut.

Many (myself included) just back off the starwheel to increase low end fueling.

Nick,

i usually dont disagree with u, but if you back off the starwheel, dont it mean that you tighten it? Loosen it a little bit, IE turn it towards the motor for more fueling.

Jet pilot has everything else right on the money. if you want to ditch the stock plate, which i feel you should, go with a 10 for best all around performance..

You don't disagree here either... I just didn't say it to clearly. I meant to loosen it, I'm a carpenter and we have always said to back off screws when we want them looser. Thinking about it saying that about the starwheel is kind of confusing.
