Boost Question
Boost Question
I know this has been covered to death and i have searched but no specific answer to my issue. I bought a 12V from a private party about a year ago and i am now starting to learn about the motor. The wastgate is disconnected and the compressor housing is pluged. the fuel plate is full forward with a #10 plate and i am still only boosting at 20psi max, it usualy sits at about 12 when im pulling under load. My question is why is it just sitting at 20psi, I have read many threads that state it should be boosting much higher, especially since the wastegate is disconnected. Any ideas? I would like to try to get a little more boost out of the truck and get exahust temps down a bit. Thanks!
Yes, 20 psi is even below the wastegate setting, well depending on year. Leaks are the major factor here. Boot clamps and boots should be inspected closely for leakage. Also inspect the intercooler for cracks/holes. A #10 full forward, should boost more to 35-38 psi in the earlier series trucks. With my 215 pump it would go well into the 40s without a boost elbow.
